RAISING ENLIGHTENED CHILDREN
Bringing children into the world in our age of ignorance can be scary, and it seems that we need no less than a PhD in child psychology to successfully raise happy children. Thom Knoles is the father of 8 children and has been raising his children for 37 years. Thom addresses parenting from a place of enlightened understanding rather than a place of conflict. We will discuss how to discover the character that your child is born with and brings into the world, and the parent’s role in cultivating and nurturing that character. We will discuss practices for raising a child that is wise in an age of ignorance, and fearless in an age of trepidation.
Topics covered will include:
- Encouraging the wildness of childhood
- Helping your child discover their dharma and manage their karma
- Eliminating fear in the child and parent
- Carefully building your child’s identity
- Raising enlightened children in an age of ignorance
- Fear vs. loyalty based discipline
- Letting children go
