YOGA OF THE KITCHEN with Tim Mitchell
Over the last 17 years, Tim has run Ayurvedic cooking classes in Australia, Europe and USA. He brings a warmth and presence in his sharing and inspires us back to the kitchen with joy. His dishes are colourful, delicious and easy to prepare.
Please note: This class is limited to a maximum of 20 participants.
Part 1 – Introduction to Ayurveda
Ayurveda comes from the same tradition of knowledge as yoga and our Vedic Meditation and gives us knowledge of life (Ayus-Lifespan & Veda-Knowledge), or more correctly guidelines in the The Art of Living. The evening will be a light-hearted and enlightening exploring the principles of Ayurveda. Through jokes, talks and tales you will learn things to act on immediately. Ayurveda celebrates our individuality and provides insight into our own personal balance. Tim is even going to make us some ‘Sacred Chai’ and a sweet snack so that we can experience the flavour of Ayurveda and inspire us to bring that flavour to our life.
Then continuing the next day with:
Part 2 – Ayurvedic Cooking Class
This day is designed to give participants an introduction to Ayurvedic cooking and how to integrate it into a busy contemporary lifestyle. The day is a celebration of food and will help you to learn how to use food to balance your health and to facilitate wellbeing. We will see that Ayurvedic Cooking is not just Indian cooking but principles we can apply to all our cooking AND eating experiences.
Tim will demonstrate how to use herbs and spices to enhance the flavor and health benefits of the ingredients. Together, we will prepare and cook several types of dishes, applying the Ayurvedic principles in action, on the stove and at the table.
Participants will receive a printed 20 page handout of all the principles discussed and the recipes used thru-out the day.

About Tim Mitchell
With a spirit of adventure, a passion for sailing, delight in timber boats, generous heart and thirst for knowledge, Tim has a deeply rich experience of life. Vedic Meditation gradually wove itself into Tim’s life almost 40 years ago, when he learned the technique at 18 years of age. Tim regularly travels to India to study and, and has a deep connection with Thom Knoles, the most experienced teacher of Vedic Meditation in the world, outside of India. Thom’s fresh, modern and profound insight into the ancient texts balanced Tim’s deepening Meditation experiences. Tim graduated with Thom in Rishikesh, India in 2005 to be an Instructor in Vedic Meditation.
Tim also has Diplomas in Svatha Yoga and Ayurveda. Tim is a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic cooking teacher; for the last 17 years he has been running Ayurvedic Cooking Classes throughout Australia.
In Australia, Vedic Meditation is usually taught in major cities. Now an established teacher of Vedic Meditation in Australia and Europe, Tim is bringing the Technique to people who live in smaller regional areas – to bring this great Knowledge ‘to where it is not’, to the smaller regions and countries where, as yet, this Knowledge in its purity has not been expressed.
Tim now travels almost fulltime, teaching Vedic Meditation, Ayurvedic cooking and personal yoga programs, in Australia and worldwide wherever there is interest.
