“Living Abundance is the opposite of living non-abundance.”
Thom Knoles
What if abundance begins when we stop assuming everything is running out? In this short bonus episode of The Vedic Worldview Podcast, Thom previews his upcoming Living Abundance retreat in Sedona and explores why certainty has to be internalized rather than extracted from an ever-changing world. He reflects on unboundedness, spiritual evolution, and a deeper view of the Self as the basis for happiness and success.

Living Abundance Sedona Retreat Preview
[01:04] A Playground Beneath Red Rocks
The retreat which I’m holding in January, from the 3rd of January to the 8th of January inclusive in 2027, here in northern Arizona, in one of the most spectacular destinations that exists on the face of this planet, a place called Sedona, with beautiful red rock escarpments that tower a thousand feet above our playground, the place where we’re going to be doing our meditations, having our camaraderie as meditators, and listening to me, and me answering your questions.
The retreat is entitled Living Abundance. Living Abundance is the opposite of living non-abundance.
[01:55] Certainty Has to Be Internalized
When people think something’s running out, time’s running out, money’s running out, good health is running out, good fortune’s running out, whatever, whatever, lover is running out.
Abundance. Abundance comes from the word abound, which is akin to unboundedness.
Living in unboundedness, living in internalized certainty, living in awareness of your full capability, your full creativity, intelligence, your full capacity to interact successfully with the changes that are occurring in the world around you.
More important now than ever, with a world that’s going through pivotal change, we need to have certainty.
Do not look for your certainty in making the world, the environment, the people, the governments, the whatever, whatever, certain. Those things are the field of uncertainty.
Certainty has to be internalized.
When I have an inner locus of control, L-O-C-U-S, it’s a word we use in psychology, meaning the place from which I operate, my locus. When I have an inner locus of control, then I’m in charge of what I’m experiencing, and all that I want is for the ever-changing demands world out there to have a chance to come into interaction with my inner certainty.
When we internalize our certainty, then we have successful interaction, and we have wave after wave of happiness.
[04:18] Letting Go of Non-Abundance
Abundance has to do with learning, in part, to let go of non-abundance, let go of any kind of idea that we might have, that based on my past experience, everything runs out.
Based on my past experience, there’s a zero sum. And everything that’s valuable and worth having is out there.
The most lovable people, they’re out there. The money is out there. The things that are going to bring me happiness, they’re all out there, and I have to align them, line them up and make them certain, so I can get them one after the other.
Then I become a control freak, because I try to make the environment not change. A futile task, and any one minute of it is completely futile.
And so, control is opposed to evolution. Attempts to control the relative world and the people in it are opposed to evolution.
What is evolutionary?
Awaken your full potential, turn yourself into the most attractive, meaning spiritually attractive, the most creative, the most intelligent, the most knowledgeable, the most staying power, stamina, capacity.
You turn yourself into that, and the world will lie at your feet and beg for your attention.
[06:14] Change Your View of Self
