GURU PURNIMA 2026 GLOBAL CELEBRATIONS
Jai Guru Deva.
Full moons are always auspicious in the Vedic worldview but the full moon in July is particularly so. It’s at this time each year that we celebrate Guru Purnima.
On this full moon night, we acknowledge the teachers and teachings in our lives by coming together as a community for meditation and shared experience.
It’s a time to reflect on our evolutionary progress, and to put a spotlight on “the future in the making” by silently signalling to Nature our commitment to our intentions.
“Guru Purnima is a night of celebration, the highlight of the Vedic calendar. In that celebration, we cherish the memory and thoughts of all the forms and phenomena, all the people and events from which we learned to become more knowledgeable than we were before.
A guru is whatever it is that removes darkness from you, whatever it is that illuminates you. That’s going to include all of the difficult experiences you’ve had in your life from which you’ve learned, and all of the great experiences that you have in your life from which you learn.
All of this is ‘guru.’ Anyone or anything that teaches you is guru. So guru means that which sheds light or brings light to darkness, that which gives you knowledge and experience.”
– Thom Knoles
